Importance of Cosmetic Labelling panel discussion

On 6th July, Circular Cosmetics visited the first Best of Nature Show 2024 in London, at the Shoreditch Exchange, which opened its doors for the first time. It was great to talk to start up cosmetic brands that have developed bespoke and natural formulations from their kitchen. As we help eco-conscious brands reach their potential and learn about their natural and organic properties we can ensure the products are compliant and safe for consumer use.

IMPORTANCE OF COSMETIC LABELLING

An excellent panel by @soilassociation, beauty journalists and founders of natural and ethical skincare brands @evolvebeauty @obvsskincare discussed some very interesting viewpoints based on some examples of green-washing and misuse of labels. It was very reassuring to hear that there are changes being made to green-washing claims, such as natural, clean and eco-friendly.

At Circular Cosmetics, we are here to support if you as a shopper or Brand are unsure how to understand and interpret claims which could be factual or misleading therefore we encourage you to get in touch to find out more.

We also discussed with Brands how to ensure their products are safe to use and ensure they are preserved to avoid harmful misuse of cosmetic ingredients, and to ensure they follow the correct protocols when manufacturing from home, another area where we are able to support.

MENTAL HEALTH & NATURE

There were some excellent discussions and panels during the course of the day, which were focussed on natural claims, labelling, and green-washing look outs. Other topics included organic and grow your own healthy fruit and vegetables, focussing on the importance of well-being and the positive experiences you can experience when in touch with nature @nutritionforyou, @joesgarden.

Men's health with plant based diets (@naturefood)  and greener alternatives to women's health (@RubyCup)were also key topics of discussion and were very interesting, and learnt a lot. It is great to see the advancement in technology allows us to use cheaper, plastic free alternatives, away from traditional products that have been around for 50 years. The dangers of plastics such as BPA (Bisphenol A) found in plastics were also pointed out as being particularly harmful, which can affect endocrine systems, and the importance of avoiding everyday plastics, as a carrier to introduce microplastics into the body were encouraged to make these changes, not only affecting our external environment but internally too. This can intern lead to cancers and other diseases which can be avoided by swapping out plastics to more eco-friendly alternatives.

WOODLAND TRUST MEMBER

We are also now proud members of @WoodlandTrust, helping to conserve the ancient woodlands of Great Britain and improving wildlife and biodiversity, encouraging endangered species to have wildlife habitants and live in harmony with our modern highways and developments. They also work with new housing developments to co-habitat wildlife, by planting native species of trees to carbon offset, and provide natural flood barriers to housing. This helps to use nature's capabilities of producing natural defences to flooding, drought, and severe weather.

Huge thank you to the BEST OF NATURE SHOW. See you again next year!!
